Bryn Stevenson, now accepting clients
Bryn Stevenson is an experienced endurance rider and eventer offering lessons in the Bay Area to riders of all levels. She brings a deep competition background and classical schooling to riders looking to improve their skills and confidence. Bryn’s approach to teaching is informed by her background in mental health counseling, integrating trauma‑sensitive practices that prioritize psychological safety, trusted communication, and building confidence for both horse and rider.
Bryn has logged over 6,000 competition miles in endurance, including three Tevis completions, multiple Old Dominion 100 wins, and two Endurance National Championship titles.
Her education includes extensive time as a student with legendary horsemen Ralph Hill, Kim Meier, Denny Emerson, and Michael Page, working for opportunities to compete at a higher level up and down the East Coast.
Bryn’s teaching emphasizes a minimum-necessary approach, empathetic riding, solid basics, and intentional conditioning for both horse and rider. Whether your goals are in the show ring, on the trails, or on the ground, Bryn has a genuine passion for teaching and advocacy.
Lessons are available for $60/hour. Inquire for monthly horse training rates. Contact Bryn at (973) 271-4297 for scheduling and availability.

Melissa Cobb, accepting clients
Melissa Cobb has been a local horse trainer for close to 30 years. Thanks to her educational background in psychology and behavior science, and her work training wild mustangs for her first ten years, she has developed great skill for communicating with both horses and riders. She applies a holistic approach to keep the partnership between both horse and rider strong, along with good communication and knowledge of the support each horse needs. She uses a dressage foundation to maintain balance for both partners and addresses biomechanics between horse and rider.
She works closely with many veterinarians, which has provided her keen insight into factors that may need to be addressed to achieve the best performance and behavior from our equine partners beyond everyday riding, including saddle and equipment fit. Melissa has taught in a wide range of disciplines in both English and Western.
Group lessons are $140 for 2 hours, and private lessons are available for $85 an hour. A $60 travel fee will be applied to be split between riders on days with group lessons, and $75 when on non-group days for a private lesson.
Lessons at MHA will be available once a month depending on demand.
